Being In Schola Choir

When I first got to campus three years ago, I wasn’t sure where I’d find my place. College can feel overwhelming, with endless opportunities but also a lot of uncertainty. I knew I wanted to be part of something bigger, but I wasn’t sure what to do or how that would fit into my busy schedule. Then, I found campus ministry—and more specifically, I found the Schola choir.

Being part of a worship team has transformed my college experience. It gave me a place where I could not only continue growing in my faith but also use my musical gifts to serve others. Playing and singing in worship services and events became more than just something I did—it became a way to connect with God and with an incredible community of people who shared my values.

Music has deepened my faith in ways I didn’t expect. There’s something powerful about leading others in worship—it’s a reminder that no matter what’s happening in my life, God and his presence are constant. Even during stressful times of the year with exams and deadlines, music ministry keeps me centered, reminding me why I’m here and who I’m living for.

If you’re looking for a way to get involved on campus, I can’t recommend music ministry enough. Whether you sing, play an instrument, or just love worship, there’s a place for you. You don’t have to be perfect—just willing to serve and grow. You never know how God might use it to shape your college experience, just like He’s shaped mine.
